We love podcasts in general, but we particularly love ones that focus on filmmaking and screenwriting. Listening to them is an awesome way to pick up technical advice, keep up with industry news, and also normalize the experience of becoming a professional by listening to how it’s been done before.

The following are some the filmmaking and screenwriting podcasts that we can’t get enough of!

1. Scriptnotes

John August and Craig Mazin host this very educational podcast about screenwriting. Not only do they break down details about script format and getting hired, they also promote high industry standards by discussing who’s paying writers and readers fair wages–and who is not.

2. The Filmcast

In the Filmcast podcast, David Chen, Devindra Hardawar, and Jeff Cannata share their professional reviews on movies.

3. The Writer’s Panel

Ben Blacker has been hosting The Writer’s Panel since 2014. On the podcast he interviews working screenwriters from both film and TV, to discuss their projects as well as how they first got started writing.

4. The Dissolve

The Dissolve is a Pitchfork podcast hosted by Scott Tobias. Tobias discusses cinema and brings a vast knowledge to the table as he does so, but still makes it approachable to people who might not be so well-versed in the depth of filmmaking choices.

5. The No Film School Podcast

The No Film School podcast is hosted by Jon Fusco and Liz Nord. They talk with filmmakers and other industry professionals, as well as share info about the film festivals you should be submitting projects to.

6. Let’s Shoot! With Pete Chatmon

Let’s Shoot! With Pete Chatmon is for any who loves film and TV, whether you’re in the industry or not. Chatmon speaks with directors, writers, actors, showrunners, executives and more.

7. Indie Film Hustle

Indie Film Hustle is hosted by Alex Ferrari and dives deep into everything you need to know about being an indie filmmaker. Topics include production, cinematography, post-production, color-grading, and distribution.

8. Happier in Hollywood

Happier in Hollywood is hosted by writers/producers/showrunners Liz Craft and Sarah Fain. The co-hosts have been friends since high school and regularly work together.

9. The Black List Table Reads

Every month The Black List founder Franklin Leonard brings together talented actors to read through scripts that have not yet been made. The podcast also features interviews with writers and other people in the industry.

10. The Wandering DP

The Wandering DP is hosted by cinematographer Patrick O’Sullivan. Each week he releases a podcast with news and inspiration for cinematographers and photographers.
